Born in Sicily and raised in California, Maurice Carrubba started learning the restaurant world early on, working in the family business. He soon discovered a lifelong passion for giving people a meal and an experience they wouldn’t soon forget. And while he has since had expert culinary academy training, Maurice’s primary inspiration remains his family gatherings in Italy and the socializing over great food that makes those gatherings unique.
About Maurice Carrubba
Grandview Farm & Event Venue is Maurice’s latest adventure in the world of hospitality and fine dining. It joins an impressive list of successes, including Caffe Riace, The Other woman, Smoke and Spice BBQ, San Benito House and Just Catering and, of course, the popular Grandview, just across the road from the farm.
Especially close to this culinary entrepreneur’s heart is what Grandview Farm represents in terms of his commitment to using fresh, healthy, local ingredients in the dishes he serves. As he told SanJose.com when he first purchased the farm: “We have been buying local/sustainable for years. When the opportunity to buy this parcel across from the restaurant came up we jumped on it. And, wow, this is our opportunity to grow on our own for the restaurant.”
There is, indeed, a certain glee when Maurice talks about a party venue where even the most local guests are traveling farther than much of the delicious food they are about to enjoy.
